In the field of direct mail, there has always been junk mail--but there have also been valuable, targeted messages that reached people who really needed them. At its best, this is what email marketing should aspire to be in the digital age. As we move to a more digital culture, email marketing should be a common way for businesses to communicate with consumers–just as direct mail has been a common way for businesses to communicate with consumers for decades.

In the field of direct mail, there has always been junk mail–but there have also been valuable, targeted messages that reached people who really needed them. At its best, this is what email marketing should aspire to be in the digital age.
